About the Club

Chartered in 1961, Bloomington Rotary has a wide variety of men and women members. They range from new, younger members to charter members.

The Bloomington Rotary Club Foundation was chartered as a non-profit organization (501(c)(3)) on December 1, 1989, by Rotarians Jack Carlson and Milo Engelstad along with several others who served as the first Board of Directors for the Foundation. 

Mission Statement:

The MISSION of the Bloomington Rotary Club Foundation is to collaborate with the Bloomington Rotary Club Board of Directors and provide guidance to the Bloomington Rotary Club Board of Directors to further the Bloomington Rotary Club’s charitable giving.

The PRIORITIES of the Bloomington Rotary Club Foundation Charitable Funding will be in alignment with the priorities of the Bloomington Rotary Club. The current priorities are as follows: to support local youth and educational activities, to support international youth and educational activities, and to support and promote the stated priorities of Rotary International.

Over time, through individual donations and club fundraising efforts, the foundation has established a fund which is being used annually to support the above efforts articulated in the Mission. 

Notably, in 2025, Bloomington Rotary Club Foundation was able to donate funds to support higher education scholarships over the next five years to the following entities:

  • Normandale Community College Foundation supporting first or second-year Bloomington students $25,000
  • Hennepin Technical College supporting first or second year Bloomington students $25,000
  • The Education Foundation of Bloomington Senior Scholarship program provides scholarships for seniors from both Bloomington Kennedy and Bloomington Jefferson High Schools. $50,000
  • Plus, to the Education Foundation of Bloomington Student Success Stipends program supports individual students participating in the Middle School Sports program in the Bloomington Public Schools $11,000

The Foundation also supports several local, regional, and international non-profit organizations serving the community of Bloomington and our partner communities in rural India through its annual Charitable Partner Grants.
