Close to 300 Rotarians and their guest enjoyed the 2004 Harold Larson party held at
the Sofitel Hotel in Bloomington. Approximately $45,000 was raised to distribute to
various non-profits in the metro and international arenas. The $60 ticket price in 2005
includes a reception, silent auction, entertainment, dinner, live auction, leadership
award for "SERVICE ABOVE SELF, raffle drawing and a few surprises.
Nearly 40 years ago, Bloomington Rotarian Lee Sundet told fellow Rotarian Harold
Larson about the important work being done by Courage Center. Lee's inspiration
laid the groundwork for the first Harold Larson Party at Harold Chevrolet. it featured
dining, entertainment and fund raising for Courage Center and other local charities.
The tradition, that started 39 years ago, continues. On November 19, 2005 the Harold
Larson Party will be held in Golden Valley, Minnesota. This city is the home of
Courage Center. Bloomington Rotary has proudly raised over $800,000 for Courage
Center since our first year, as a club, in 1961.
Proceeds from the 2004 Harold Larson Fundraiser benefited numerous charitable
partners, some of which are: Courage Center, VEAP, International Village Clinic,
Bloomington Fine Arts Council, Strive Program @ Kennedy High School,
Cornerstone, Education Foundation of Bloomington and the DEEDs Program at
Normandale Community college.
Our deepest thanks to Harold and his wife Kathryn for starting this club tradition and
for their continued support of the Harold Larson Party.
