Four Avenues of Service

Club Service focuses on strengthening
fellowship and ensuring the smooth
functioning of Rotary clubs. Learn about
effective club service in Membership and
Training.

Vocational Service involves club members
serving others through their professions
and aspiring to high ethical standards.
Rotarians, as business leaders, share
skills and expertise through their vocations,
and they inspire others in the process.

Community Service is the opportunity
Rotary clubs have to implement club
projects and activities that improve life in
the local community.

International Service encompasses efforts
to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach
around the world and to promote world
understanding and peace. It includes
everything from contributing to PolioPlus to
helping Rotary Youth Exchange students
adjust to their host countries.

Where does one find inspiration and clarity of voice or
style that makes them unique?  What does it take to
create?  Our guest, Gregory Graham, a nationally known
artist, grew up in Watervliet, New York.  He received his
BA and MA from the State University of New York at
Albany and his MFA from the University of Tennessee,
Knoxville. Graham has been the recipient of numerous
awards, including grants from the Jerome Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts
Board. Graham's creative work has historically focused on painting and printmaking,
but he has also experimented with filmmaking in the last decade.

Graham's work has been exhibited in venues around the country including the
Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock; Centennial Art Center, Nashville; Groveland Gallery,
Minneapolis; Honolulu Academy of Arts; Oklahoma Art Center, Oklahoma City; and
our own Bloomington Art Center, among many others. He is also represented in the
collections of The Bayly Museum, University of Virginia, Charlottesville; Purdue
University, West Lafayette, Indiana; Quaker Chemical Foundation, Philadelphia; and
many others.

Graham has screened his films at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design; the
Minnesota Museum of American Art; the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center, Saint
Paul; the Riverview Theatre, Minneapolis; and the Bloomington Art Center.  Pictured
here is one of Graham’s paintings, “Kwik Trip (Foray)”.
